NEW! Jumpstart Workshop for Sophomores and Juniors

WHAT: College Admissions Jump Start

WHO: Students in Class of 2027 and 2026

(in other words, students who will be in 10th and 11th grade in Fall 2024)

WHEN: Thursday 6/27 10am to 3pm. Lunch and UB campus tour included.

WHERE: UB CoLab, 340 Student Union, UB North Campus

WHY:

Anxiety and misinformation surround the college admissions process. This warm and welcoming workshop will decrease stress and empower students! They will learn how to make the most of the next year (or two) of high school and optimize their college admissions outcomes.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Discover the ten things you can do NOW as a rising sophomore or junior to get a jump-start on the college search and admissions process…and make an action plan
  • Learn how to research colleges, plan virtual and in-person visits, and talk to college reps
  • Dispel myths about financial aid and scholarships, and learn how to understand what college actually costs
  • Learn about the differences between the SAT and the ACT, and figure out when the best time is for you to take them
  • Explore possible majors and careers through helpful assessment tools
  • Discover summer internships, immersive academic experiences, career shadowing and volunteer programs that will help your application stand out (and – more importantly –  help you discover more about yourself and your interests)
  • Get clear, factual information about the college athletics recruiting process
  • Learn about music auditions and visual art portfolio submission
  • Discuss what makes a good college essay and when to start writing one

Students will leave the workshop with a practical to-do list, accurate information, and increased confidence.

Cost: $100  Payable via Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, check, or cash.

Space is strictly limited. Register HERE!

Note: This workshop is ONLY for rising 10th and 11th graders. My workshop for rising 12th graders (Class of 2025 – students who will be seniors this fall) can be found here.
